Filing ACA Forms 1094-C and 1095-C Electronically

As an Applicable Large Employer (ALE), it's crucial to electronically file Forms 1094-C and 1095-C with the IRS by April 1, 2024. While the typical deadline is March 31, 2024, since it falls on a Sunday, electronic returns must be submitted by the subsequent business day.

Employers have the option to request a 30-day extension by filing Form 8809 before the due date. Beginning in 2024, most employers subject to ACA reporting must opt for electronic filing. However, paper filing remains available for small employers, defined as those filing fewer than 10 information returns annually, with a deadline of February 28, 2024.

Filing ACA Forms 1094-B and 1095-B Electronically

For non-ALEs sponsoring self-insured health plans, it's equally important to electronically file Forms 1094-B and 1095-B by April 1, 2024. Like the previous deadline, the standard due date is March 31, 2024, adjusted to the next business day due to falling on a Sunday.

Like ALEs, non-ALEs can request a 30-day extension using Form 8809. Electronic filing is mandatory for most employers subject to ACA reporting starting in 2024, with paper filing an option only for very small employers filing fewer than 10 information returns annually. Their paper filing deadline is February 28, 2024.

Removing OSHA Form 300A

By April 30, 2024, ensure the removal of your company’s OSHA Form 300A posting. This form, summarizing workplace data from 2023, should be posted from February 1, 2024, until April 30, 2024. It's important to note that this requirement doesn't apply to companies with 10 or fewer employees or employers in partially exempt industries.

Filing Form 941

To report federal income tax, social security tax, and Medicare tax withheld from employees’ pay during the first quarter of 2024 (January, February, and March), file Form 941 with the IRS by April 30, 2024. If all taxes were timely, the filing deadline extended to May 10, 2024.

Conclusion: Stay Ahead of Your Obligations

Meeting deadlines is essential for the smooth operation of any business. By staying informed and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, you can avoid penalties and maintain your company’s reputation. Mark these key deadlines on your calendar to stay ahead in April 2024 and beyond.
